About Peter Maycock - Search Engine Optimiser

Peter MaycockBorn in Chesterfield, Peter started his own business, X-Press, in 1990 as a design and print company. With the desktop pc revolution in full flood he invested heavily in Apple Macintosh kit to produce artwork and for typesetting - and with the arrival of the World Wide Web around 1995, it was a natural progression to add website design to the firm's portfolio of services.

Straight away the issue of getting websites found and ranked highly with the search engines of the day, Excite, Galaxy, Lycos, AltaVista, etc became a vital part of the companies offer. Whilst new businesses were springing up everywhere offering website design, no one was focussing on search engine optimisation.

By the end on the nineties it was becoming obvious that optimising websites was an area in which the X-Press excelled, but the reaction of potential clients was that the company was a web desin outfit that "dabbled" in SEO. At this point Search Engine Serious website was launched.

Within six months the site held the coveted number one spot at Google for the term "search engine optimisation" and enquiries flooded in from companies both large and small,

Clients include La Senza Lingerie, Princess Motor Yachts, Derby University and Slimming World.

As the search engine optimisation market matured into a subset of online marketing, which encompassed SEO, pay-per-click and social marketing, the company went from strength to strength.

In 2004 Peter began to offer SEO consultancy to large companies, advertising agencies and new media houses - and this work underpins the strategy for the future.
